just as the title states.. i have 3 gsp's at roughly 1-2" n they just come down white spot.. im thinking they had it from the lfs but i never noticed it..

i want to try and fix the issue without using medicines. just natural cures i.e salt and stuff.

but i was thinking they in a brackish water allready would more salt help ? if not what would ?

i have white spot treatment, but puffers dnt have scales n could die easier from treatments like clown loach do. thats what i heard anyways.
what can i do ?

Bring the SG up to 1.004, with marine salt. Increase temperature to 80F -84F. Ich is principally a temperate zone gill parasite and fish may have issues getting enough O2 in warmer water. Start at 80F and if there are no signs of respiratory distress (labored breathing and/or hanging at the surface), increase to 84F. It might be helpful to add an airstone. Melafix will help heal the infected areas.

thanks for the help guys. they seem to have less white spots now.. but its still apparent. just done a water test and the ammonia is between 4.0 -8.0. i do weekly water changes. so im dunno why its soo high for !! soo im going to do a 50% change with RO water later on,.

also pufferpunk? what else can can i put in with these guys wont eat them or get eaten ?

Do the ammonia test again. To tell you the truth, I'm surprised they're even alive in there. ANY ammonia over 0 is extremely toxic & deadly. How was the tank cycled? How long has it been set up? Are you cleaning the substrate? If after you test the ammonia & it's still >0, start doing 80% WC 2x/day, until it remains 0 & also nitrite remains 0. Be sure to clean under all decor.

Why are you using RO water? Is there something wrong with your tap water?

Ich is mainly a gill disease. The spots on the body are there after the gills are completely infested. So You can't judge they're getting better this soon, just because there are less spots.

tank was cycled fishless for 2 weeks. n ive had the puffs in there about a week ad half now, there was no substrate untill 3-4 days ago. was cleaned before put in tank.and will do a hover clean of the sand and swish the sand after for ther to be no gas build up and i do a 30-50%WC every weekend. i bought 2 new puffers about 4 days after the original, that could be where the white spot came from. ill do another test tonight... apart from the white spot there looking healthy.. allways looking for food

Read my sig & follow.. do many!

Many LARGE! You must keep ammonia/nitrite at 0 all the time. What's the SG in there?
