I have recently added a Green spotted puffer to my fresh water tank. It seems to be doing fine, but half the care guides I can find say it is Brackish half say fresh what is the deal?

it needs brackish water (wish means water that part salt and nt complete fresh) at a small size it is fine in freshwater but it will thrive and need brackish water.

They are born naturally in freshwater tributaries that feed into brakish streams, then ultimately, the ocean. I never keep them in fresh, as they already are at the fish store (9/10 times). I will slowly work them up to low end brakish and up again at 3 inches to nice strong brakish. At full adult, they will thrive in marine conditions.

when they are small they are fine in fresh.. but they need brackish as they grow and enjoy full marine once they are adults

I have mine in full salt. He's happy as a clam. 4 years old
The only thing that sucks is I can't really have much coral in the tank.
Right now it's mostly shrooms and polyps in the tank.
He's nippy.

Here's an old pic. I beleive this one was taken the day I finally
converted him to full salt.
