Hey guys:

I have had 3 Green spotted puffer fish for about 7 montsh, they are about 2.5" big. I have tried to raised msystry snails in my 60 gallon fresh water tank, no luck so far. I know these guys need snails in their diet. I have managed a few times getting some snails from the local fish store that are small enough for them to eat, but its rare.

They love blood worms and i have frozen mussels that they also love.

My question is, before their teeth get too big, what else can i feed them that are crunchy. Will small crabs do??

Any ideas are welcome. They are healthy and i do a water change every week to 2 weeks.

Regards Andy

market shrimp has a decent shell on it, thats what I mainly feed mine. that and give the lfs a few bucks to scoop unwanted snails out of their planted tanks.

Try getting ramshorn snails they are prolific breeders...

As for other foods, you could breed crays...

Get mussels. Crack one open. His teeth will scrape out the meat & the shell will keep them trimmed. Go to Petco/Petsmart & ask for their pest snails. You can usually find pond snails FS on Ebay.
