Hey! Anyone ever have a green sturgeon before? Or any sturgeon? You have to get them like 6 inches or less or its illegal plus i live by their natrual habitat so i can release it into the wild when it gets to big! =D

Just my opinion. But any fish that was rasied in the home aquarium should not be released into the wild. The fish could have unnatural parasites that are not in the wild. This could do more harm than good. If you can not or do not plan on being able to house one of these fish for the length of its life then I would not suggest getting one. Also mybe I am wrong, but if a fish of this kind is rasied in the aquarium and trained to eat out of the hand of when you feed them wouldn't be have trouble finding food. Or have a unafraid disposition of man. Would not that not be very bad for the fish and the local population. Maybe I am wrong just my thoughts.

Yes, I have heard of green sturgeon. They are different than the more popular white sturgeon that are in CA. They are very rare and illegal to keep at any size. I have never heard of the 6" law. I am pretty sure that as long as you buy the sturgeon at a lfs it is legal to keep because it more than likely came from a farm. It is illegal to catch a sturgeon in the wild and keep it if it is less than 46". Yes, even keeping a wild caught 6" sturgeon is illegal. It is also illegal to release any captive raised fish into the wild.

Ive had 2 white sturgeons at two different times about 3-4 inches both didnt last too long. I fed them bloodworms but i would recommend live california blackworms for them. U need a lot of current and oxygen for these guys and relatively cold water

If you buy a sturgeon from a fish store, it's legal. If you buy it from some or yourself who took it out of the wild, it's illegal. (At least on the east coast it is). Some people do have permits from the Fish and Game to sell them, but there are not many people who have this.

And it doesn't matter, it is ILLEGAL to release any fish back to the wild after you have housed it for any amount of time.

California is home to both white and green sturgeon though it is illegal to catch and keep the green species.

try to refrain from name calling its rude and tends to start conflicts even if it is in a joking manner. People are trying to give you good advice I know sometimes it comes off being harsh but they just want whats best for you and the potential fish so keep an open mind about it
