Whats the minimum size tank to house a green sunfish? My friend has a private pond stocked full of bullheads and green sunfish and he said i could steal a green sunfish or two if i wanted, and they are rather 'pretty' and seem pretty interesting.

If you going to keep 2 Green Sunfish and thats it...Then I would say a 55 Gallon or higher is ideal.

If you want to eventually throw in some fellow tank mates with them , then I would say 75 or higher.

id say 60 gal ive never seen a green sunfish bigger than 8" and the ones ivehad arent really active

There are many other sunfish that stay smaller but more importantly, sunfish that aren't so ill tempered. Many also have much more color and I would urge you to consider the others before you commit to green sunfish.

I never had one before, but I just have a fascination with ill tempered fish

I wouldn't personally keep one in anything under a 50g (36x18 footprint). If you get one that becomes uncharacteristically large you may have to upgrade larger than that. For 2 or more you should consider 75g or larger IMO.
I don't personally like 55g tanks for green sunfish, the front to back length is too narrow and that really seems to cause more aggression in my experience not to mention it's just not good turning room for a fish that isn't flexible at all.

Yup. When I try to fish for bass, the greenies and the bluegill swim up, grab the worm and twist it off the hook. I see LMB in the shallows but they aren't feeding because the sunfish chase them off.
