Green sunfish?

Is this guy a green sunfish? He's pushing 8" now. I got him over the summer with some feeders. I don't really want to keep him but I'm pretty sure its illegal for me to sell him. My LFS won't take him since they can't sell him. He is in a 20 gallon long by himself at the moment but hopefully he will be in a 75 this weekend.

Thanks guys. Any input on what I should do with him? I don't really want to keep him but I can't sell him. Can I give him away?

I don't want to keep him because I'd like to use the 75 gallon for discus. I obviously can't do that with him in the 75. I'd put him in my 140 with my cichlids but I'd worry about him being too aggressive for my EBJD and BGJDs.

80 wouldn't be too warm, but it would probably put him in hyper-aggressive mode. I don't know what the legal status on giving fish away is in your state- I suppose it depends on whether it's legal for you to have him at all. Try contacting your state fish and game commission or DNR.

check your laws, or call your dnr. even if you can't sell it, it might be OK to give it away.
