My 10gl tank looks like a nice rich green garden! The issues is I have it on a bookcase in my living room in a corner that gets a tad of sunlight so I get the growth. I just keep a betta in there.

Suggestions on some small bottom dwellers that would be okay in a 10gl that would help keep it clean? Or is it a losing battle and move the tank?

Dont rely on fish to do tank cleaning, id suggest waterchanges, at least every other day, to keep the algae down, move the tank if you can... that should solve the problem.... but if you must get a species of fish to clean algae... get some small snails (trumpet, etc.) or 1-2 Otocinclus.... more commonly known as "flying foxes"

Spray paint the back and sides that get the most sunlight. That will help it some. Green water is a blessing in some cases though. If you ever get your fish to breed, just throw your little babies in there! Great for young fry!

Like was stated, water changes will help out greatly. If you can move the tank though, that would be your best option.

Generally an Otocinclus is just called an otto. The flying fox is either a Epalzeorhynchos kalopterus or Siamese Algae Eater with the earlier being the true flying fox and will get to roughly 5" in length and will become aggressive towards tank mates when older along with giving up on eating algea. If you want a true siamese algea eater then you had better look up the differences and make sure that you know them because shops often don`t. It`s only colour difference though so just google and you`ll get the answers. However Otocinclus are great fish and stay small. And their algea eating traits will stay with them till the pass on.. ( 1" tops) Sorry i forgot that.. :)

I have the water and growth. I keep the water from getting green from the water changes often, if I dont the water goes green lol The growth is unreal. Not very easy to clean either the vac doesnt suck it up, too thick and heavy.

get a bigger vac and just keep up with it.. daily if you need to

more plants will also help but it sounds like yer overfeeding and or underfiltering

ive got 2 tanks that sit in a window all day.. the water is clear as can be.. which sorta stinks cuz one of them is my snail/shrimp tank so the more "uck" that grows the better..

buy some acylic paint (under $1) and paint the sides of your tank, thats what I had to do. Powerhead driven sponge filter cleaned a lot of it up too. A couple of big water changes later and the tank was crystal clear.
