Are they more peaceful when they are small??? And if so, what size do they start getting territorial and aggressive???

Mine seems to be very docile compared to all my other cichlids, but I keep hearing that they are mean fish.

IME they are either bloodthirsty or big babys. Mine is currently pushing towards 5 inches and is a big baby and has been that way forever. I raised her from 1 inch with other cichlids though. She isn't even aggressive when guarding eggs, just wary. I think it's all in the individual fish.

mines ok he hates the green texas they are only about 2inch but he does get pushed around by a 2inch con and 4inch jack dempsey. if you want a "peacefull" GT raise them from the 2inch size or lower

i think gts are the most random in individual aggression. mine are both pansies and arent that aggressive. but i ve seen one that was pushing around a dominent male buttikoferi its wierd

Yeah thats usually how it goes.

so there is a chance that I can put him back in my cichlid community tank when he/she grows up? and the GT won't be too mean?

Right now I isolated him and he is cycling my future discus tank. I came home and his sides had some white lacerations, and his fins were a little torn up. I watched for about an hour and a half and didn't see anyone even find him (he is a reallly good hider), but I am sure it was the little jerk off texas. I am hoping he will start eating soon. He doesn't even eat beefheart, or frozen bloodworms.

Thanks though, now I have hope to put him in my bigger tank.

I agree they are hit and miss too. Mine was a wimp til she hit about 4" then killed my Salvini. But she's 2nd in line behind my JD right now. NO real agression other than that one time.

Also mine was a picky eater too when it was a little gal. Check your water params. I did and once I straightened it out, did more frequent water changes, she came around and has grown pretty quickly IMO on krill and hikari gold pellets (about 2+" since winter time). Have also been feeding earthworms. cut them up if you have to.

Good luck

mine was cool at 6 inches, till a pike bit him in the face,, thats when the switch was turned on!!!! i cant turn it off now,,, 1 year later he's in his own tank and tries to attack me thru the glass,, hes a bit over 7 inches now and tooled on my jd real bad, killed the pike, sent a parrot into permanent hideing and beat his mate to the point i had to bring her into my lfs, hes the most aggresive fish i have ever seen,

if you keep him around friendly fish there ok, once they are mature and get cornered, they flip hard!

good luck
