Was just wondering what your thoughts were on this idea? I have had no experience with texas cichlids, it's the 1st time my LFS has them!! Definitely going with the texas.. but was wondering if a GT would be a good tank mate along with some dithers and a few bottom dwellers... Open to any suggestions if you think this wouldn't work :)
Thanks in advance for any advice!

In a 150 that should be fine, esspecially if raised together as already said. Texas are awesome fish one of my favorites. Are you getting a carpintis (green texas) or a cyanogutattus (original regular texas)? Either would be fine. From my experience the carpintis stay a little smaller with males hitting 10-11 inches and females 8-9 or so. Cyanogutattus males get 12" and females about 10" but either would work.

Thanks for the response! It's a regular texas! Really excited
Should be getting them today or tomorrow! Will make a grow out thread for them:)
Any ideas for some good dithers.. I was thinking silver dollars but to me they really aren't that exciting!!

So I just had a really close look at the texas again.. its been sold as a normal texas but I'm starting to think it's a Carpintis. Has more of a blue pealing. Could anybody inform me of the main differences to look out for?

Cyano has smaller spots,if you do a search using mfk,you should see many pics for comparison.rainbow fish, giant danios, filament barbs for dithers.but either the GT or texas might kill them when full grown

Thanks! So it's not really necessary to have dithers? I searched now and it looks like they are carpintis and not the normal texas! I think that would work slightly better anyway seeing as they don't get as big ☺

I think it should work without dithers. Giant danios or silver dollars would look good and add some movement and excitement though

Sometimes the dithers help to make the fish feel safe, they compete while eating,so sometimes they can grow slower, but I like using dithers.it also can divert the attention of 1 cichlid from beating on the other.I would try them in your situation,if only 2 cichlids 1 will be dominant
