I had a pair of green terrors in a 29gallon and they got along fine. They were both only a couple months old. The female bullied the male a little, but no one had and nipped fins.
I moved them into a new 75 gallon and after two days the male had beaten the female pretty badly and I removed her.
I found her that was after only leaving home for an hour. Any idea why the male would be suddenly more aggressive?
She doesn't look like she will survive the ordeal and I have no idea what exactly happened.

How do you know when a male gt wants to breed? She was colored up and flaring at him etc. they shared a little cave together for months.

They always want to...

You can't keep a pair together in a 75g. Much better off keeping a single male. I tried and had the same results. Gave the female to a good home. I didn't let her get beat on.

think keeping a bunch (3 or more not 2) of female and single male is best so hopefully there will be one ready when he is. bit selfish and indecent i know but thats how they are :/
