I have a green terror in a 125 with a split in fin that has been there since I got it. It looks to be growing back but very slowly. Do you think it will grow back, if not it's ok it will help make the fish special :)

Do you think the tips will turn orange or stay white?

Also do you see any other issues with the fish? Last time I posted someone said it looked skinny but it was only a couple days out of lfs. Sometimes I think stomach might be sunken but others it looks fine, poop is normal, and appetite is great.

Here is the fish to help with the questions.

I many cases a fin will grow back if the tear if not all the way into the cartilage, body, or bone.
If however split too far it, it may not regrow.
Here is an example.
The split is far enough into the caudal, that it never did close, this split did not effect a normal life, and it lived many years without a problem.

GT looks fairly normal to me.

Note the difference between your GT and the tail in Duane's fish, the split in his is a tapered triangle while yours is rounded toward the base. It's possible yours had a split that started healing, but a wide 'split' that's curved like that and doesn't taper in to a V shape is often genetic, not something that will 'heal'. As far as fin edge color, there are two fin color morphs of A. rivulatus, white and gold/orange. Yours looks like the white finned type.

I can't see a clear outline of the belly, but GTs are not a fish that need to be rounded looking, a flat belly is actually better health-wise, slightly concave is okay also if it's not too pronounced, and if it's more than a little concave some time and good nutrition normally fixes it.

Thank you for all the great feedback! I am happy if the fin stays like that but just wondered what to expect or if I should be doing anything different.

Overall the fish(Shrek) seems to be doing really well and starting to get a personality. Shrek is only 2 inches so long way to go.

I read that the white can turn orange as they get larger, but if not that's fine as long as the fish is healthy. I see some orange on the very tip but that might just be be wanting it since orange is my wife's favorite color. :)

I haven't seen that personally with any white finned rivulatus I had, if they were white they were white, if they were orange they started out with some orange. What I have seen is a small bit of orange edging get wider as the fish matures or faint orange get darker or brighter. Both have been in the hobby a long time so it's certainly quite possible to get a mixed type (orange and white finned rivulatus), if not with the immediate parents, then somewhere up the line-- in which case some very faint orange could develop more with age. Could a white fin turn orange in such a fish? I wouldn't expect it, but I don't want to be too dogmatic that.

Thanks, I think they will stay white also. I have not seen much change since I got shrek. It would be neat if the outside stays a little orange but mainly white the rest of the way. I'll update if anything changes but I feel a lot better about Shrek now thanks to the replies.
