Green terror fry and gravel

My gt pair have had fry 1 time and then infertile eggs the 2nd time, and are now about to lay eggs again. My question is should I take out my gravel because the first batch they had some got stuck under the gravel and on the days i would do w/c i would find dead bodies?

You could take it out orjust get sand . It a little hard to clean but the fish can move it easier

I have tried sand but it was hard to clean it.

Get a sand of a larger grain. So it is heavier, meaning you can vacuum the top of the sand without siphoning sand out. I have had my GTs breed in both sand and gravel, both without any issues. But i would definately recommend sand as they can control the fry easier.

Ok thanks. Also can i put a chinese hillstream loach in with my gt fry that are 1/2 an inch?
