hi i have a breeding pair of green terror and what looks like a 1000 fry my question is do i leave the fry with mom and dad or remove them, so far the parent seem to be ok with them after about 4 days of free swiming?

Usually cichlids are good parents up to the time they start getting ready to spawn again. Then its a different story. If you want to raise some fry, you should siphon some out and put them in their own tank

Do you siphon them out when they are still wigglers or when they are free swimming?

I would wait until after they are free swimming. They seem to do better when young if left with their parents. The longer you wait the easier they will be to raise. Also I would only take out perhaps 50 and leave the rest with the parents.

yeah u should be able to keep the fry in their just make sure...that there are no tank mates in there or they will be done for...

thanks guys i will wait about two week then siphon them out. but why only 50 as there are a lot more than that free swimming?
How many do you need? How many tanks to you have to raise them as they grow? How many can you sell or give away? The smaller number you raise in a tank the faster they will grow.If you overcrowd them you will have a smaller less healthy fish.

I have fifty tanks as i breed african cichlids, this is my first time doing the green terror. and i work at the lps thay have about 300 african tanks but would let me grow them out ther if needed. Thank You ! you have been very helpful!
