A couple days ago my GT looked like it had caught it mouth as one side was hanging open.

However today its mouth looks like it is covered in fungus and also its side fin.

I have attached some pics however apologies for poor quality as it wont stay still.

Any ideas what it is and if its a risk to my other fish and rays? How can it be treated?

Tank is 4x2.5x2. Nitrate below 20. Nothing else changed.

Its still is eating fine and other tank mates fine

Thanks in advance all

Looks like duck lips. Its a high mortality rate. Not saying it is but looks like it from experience. My texas got it and he died.

Not good.

I've taken him out and put into a make shifts hospital tank with some anti fungus meds I had in back if the cupboard! Fingers crossed

how is he doing? what you treating with? I would do a meth blue dip. If it is duck lip than we are dealing with a bacteria but he should probably be close to dead if that is the case

I've put him in a big water container with sponge filter and heater so can't see him from the side to see the fungus, is a little lethargic but is moving okay but seems to have lost a lot of colour and faded.

I think it is fungus from looking at previous posts on here. And as you said if it was that he'd have died by now.

Am doing daily 100% water change and treating daily with pimafix and Melafix from app.

Will give a couple of days them pop him in my sump so can see how the fungus is looking.

His fungus has gone but still a bit short of colour. Have put him back in maim tank today. Lets see how he gets on.

mela and pimafix are junk....meth blue and suggested is your better bet.

I would definitely not keep him in the main tank when the symptoms have probably only receded for the moment.

Ah thanks

I have taken him back out and in qt tank.

Only reason I used pima and mela was as had them laying around and they claim to help fungus so thought wont hurt using them as well. Have also been using an anti fungus treatment where the active ingredient is phenoxyethenol.
