I know there have been allot of these lately so thank you for your help. I think it is male but not sure. They labeled it as royal GT but looks like a normal GT to me I don't know if there really is a difference or not. The camera didn't pick up the beautiful greens in the tank so I included 1 from while he was in the bag. His colors really are outstanding but you will have to take my word until I get a better camera :).

So if you could tell me if it is male or female and how you know that would be great. I am guessing male by fin length and his body is elongated.

Also I have a female texas cichlid and a female Firemouth will he (if it is a he) breed with either? Not trying to make a hybrid just wondering if I have to watch out for that.

This was before adding him to the tank. Best I could get sorry. This is just to show his color.photo (1).JPG

He is in a 75 Gallon stock list is

1GT
1 Texas Cichlid
1 Red Dot Severum
2 Adult Fire mouth
5 Baby Fire mouths (these will be re homed as they grow)

The other fish you see in the pic (oscar, JD) have been rehomed.

I am not adding anything else what are your opinions on this stock list.

Common people give me a hand here.

I've never heard of a Royal GT. I'd guess that it is either an up-sale tactic or just a local nickname for them. However, you guessed right. He is a male and, you should have nothing to worry about when it comes to hybridization. As far as I know there have never been any cases of GT (Gold Saums) hybridizing with anything outside of other Aequidens. This was my favorite fish for a very long time. Mine was beautiful and full of personality. I don't think you will be let down. Enjoy

Thanks for the response. I thought "royal" was an upsale tactic I have only heard it at this one store. I am not disappointing though it is a beautiful fish and I have been waiting a while, to get one. They aren't as readily available by me as they used to be. Thanks for confirming the gender.
