Hey guys I have a gold saum its about 3-4", he's in a 60 gallon tank with a few convicts a female JD an a firemouth cichlid. I would like to know if the amount of orange on the tail has anything to do with it being male or female. It has no hump yet, but is super colorful an aggressive. It looks just like this one. But with a little more orange on the tail. What do you guys think.

I use to have a female Green Terror that was 5 inches, she had green by the face, round body, also usually female Green Terrors are far more aggressive than the males..I had to give her up, due to she tore up my old male Texas that died months ago.

Males will have the green on the side female are usually faded, the one in the picture is a male. post a picture of yours!

It's pretty hard to tell when they're young but the amount of orange in the fins has nothing to do with it. U wanna look at the shape of the fins, as they grow older males have pointier dorsal and anal fin while females have it rounder, plus the hump on the head.

Yeah.....Can't really sex a fish without pics.

This thread is kind of worthless. You would have been just as well off just doing a search on how to sex GT's. It's been discussed a lot.
