My green terror is about 4-5 inches and always has a big appetite...

Recently I noticed one eye was cloudy and thought he bumped into something...

His eye did not get better or worse and the last few days he started flashing on plant leaves and the sand... And today he started spitting his food back out... Eat again spit out over and over...

I also noticed his poop today was very long... Hung on for a long time and looked like it had a casing around it... Clear almost plastic look around poop... Was not stringy tho...

Thoughts? Treatment? Should I treat whole tank or remove him?... Water is fine and changed weekly...

Thanks I'm worried about him...

what are you water parameters? do you use test strip or liquiid? how old is the stuff you use to test with? how much water do u change weekly? what type of filtration you use?

The more info you give the more some-one can help.

For now i would do large water change. Clean water can go along way.

Just did a large water change... I do 50 percent every week.. Never missed a week...

Filtered by canister and hob filter...

Water is 0-0-20... Tank has been running for about 14 months all other fish are perfectly fine... He has been fine since I got him 4 months ago...

I feed NLS pellets and I am worried because recently I got some hikari freeze dried krill for treats... Could that have caused a blockage??

Dont think its the food. however i would try to get more veggies in his diet. Veggys can help keep him from blockage.

im no expert but i think your underfiltered. IMO 20 nitrates is still a little high, over a period of time it could cause heath issues. If it was me i would do more water changes or add bigger filters. but thats just me.

I had a JD that had a simular situation. i ended upgadeing my filters and doing 70-80% water changes weekly. I am not one for adding meds though. IMO meds can be stressfull for the fish and try to stay away from them as much as possible.

Wish i could be more of help. Good luck and i hope all works out for ya.

Well I am moving about 500 gph in a 55 gallon tank... Is that still underfiltered?

I am going to recheck the level... I think it was closer to the 10-15 level... All other fish are perfectly fine....

He will eat the NLS 1mm pellets but not the 3mm that he usually eats spits them out and has trouble with the smaller ones...

My tanks have 60ppm nitrates because i have well water and thats what comes out of the tap. So i don't think 20ppm has anything to do with it.

Something is preventing him from taking the large pellets... That is bottom line... I am going to start adding salt for a few days to see if it helps...

Sounds like flukes or other parasite to me. They can cause all of the symptoms including the cloudy eye, but I have only read that and not experienced it.

I'd put him in iso tank and dose him with prazi and metro, but I'm quick to medicate. ;) Salt and lots of WC's can't hurt.

Still not eating... Looks healthy otherwise color is good...

Still going after the food, just spits it right back out... Also seems to be trying to sift the sand more too....

Any suggestions??? I don't have an iso tank other than a 5g... Too small for a 5 inch fish??
