my 4 in green terror laid eggs again. this is her 2nd time. last time was over a month ago with no males so the eggs were never fertilized. this time there is a 3 inch male gt which i added in the tank a few days ago. the female hav been harrassing the male ever since he was introduced, he would hide in the corner near the filter all the time and get chased around by the female sometimes.

then all of a sudden today, i saw a big nesting hole on my substrate. and the 2 gts were together not scared nor fighting at all. i turned off the lights, 1 hour later, i see hundreds of eggs on the pebbles.

Congratulations.Did you see if the male was fertilizing the eggs. They look fertile in the pics.Should be a tan color.By the way,she is a good looking female!!!Put in a nice large flat stone that is larger than she needs to lay eggs on next time round.IME she will produce a larger number of eggs as she gets older.

Congrats, is there anything in the tank that might eat the fry or are they on their own?

How do you get them to lay eggs. I have 1 male with three females?

in back to back days, u feed them a lot til their stomach is almost full. that will help a lot. my temperature is about 78-81. ph is about 6.8. plus i dont think bottom dwellers and nocturnal fishes are a good idea imo anyway like loaches, cories, ghost knives, etc.

not sure if the eggs are fertilized tho, the male is only 3 inches. but seems like it cause the male is near the female and nesting area a lot more now instead of hiding in the corner near the filter like it always do.

yes there is. i have a few more cichlid peacocks and an small oscar. oscar is 2 1/2 inches and peacocks are 3 inches long. is it a good idea to move some of the eggs to a 10 gallon tank and bucket?

didnt see the male fertilizing the eggs either, i only saw the female shaking and shaking trying to dig the substrate i guess for like 15 mins, then i got bored, turned off the lights, watch some tv for a lil while, wen i turned on the lights again, there was the eggs.

My best results in the past that has given me the highest survival rate is to leave the parents to raise the fry for atleast a week or two. Then take them out.Feed them baby brine until they are big enough to take normal frozen brine.
