Looks female. If its 6" without a hump yet or developing its a female my gt had a hump at 3.5"

Hey,

All male GT's will develop a hump?
I've read about Green's developing humps in tanks with other cichlids as a sign of dominance or mating. When kept alone, this may not happen.

Someone has pictures of male and female GT vent?

Thanks guys. And sorry about my english.

I had a GT that I couldnt tell until it was about 6" or so, then he started to develop a hump. IME nuchal humps arent a reliable way to id a lot of cichlids, some females may have a forehead that is larger than some males that are supposed to develop a hump. The pics didnt show on my computer so I cant help, I'm just saying IME humps may not be something you want to bank on

Vent looks female in my opinion. Nuchal hump is not a good indicator in rivulatus... some of the most dominant males I've seen have had a mixture of large and small humps. Females kept alone or as dominant species in the tank can develop slight nuchal humps as well, not likely as large as a males from the same gene pool though. I'll admit the other pics make it appear to be male, but picture of vent makes me believe ... female.

Yeah the nuchal humps arent reliable. I have raised a few GT male and female pairs from fry to adult and even at 6 inches males have no hump. But when I added a female in with the male boom the nuchal hump cometh. I have also raised some males with no nuchal hump or very small hump. Humps come from GT genes they are not a given indicator for male or female.
I stand by my guess of "Male" to me I have always gone by the color and thats not fool proof either. To me in those pics it had the real bright blue color to the scales makes me think male since females are usually darker olive color.
