Hello I recently bought a juvenile green terror to pair up with an already established female. Both are around 3" maybe a little less. I'm having issues with the female beating up on the new guy who we believe is a male, but after around a week hasn't paired up with the female. The female layed eggs prior to putting the new guy in, and the new guy hasn't shown any aggression in return. Is he a male or female? His fins are pretty torn up from the female so its difficult to tell. 55 gallon tank with plenty of cover.IMG_1507.png

Give it time to settle in. It is very stressed. Considering the tank it came from at the store(all those Africans) and now being beat up by the female. The poor thing needs time to heal up. I wouldn’t expect it to pair right away, and they may never pair even if it is a male.
Wait a month and take pictures again once it is healed and comfortable. That likely will mean putting that divider up and keeping it up.

Females don't like weak, same size or smaller males. The male has to prove to the female that is it suitable, and right now, she just kicked the snot out of him, proving that he isn't worth mating with at the moment. You would have better luck with a male at least twice the length of the female.

The pictures are blurry and the terror is tore up and stressed. Once it’s relaxed and healed we can answer your question with more certainty.
