Ok several months ago my biggest green terror got bad and I had to put him down. It started off he was in my 150 he began to have troubles swimming and would keep turning on his side or upside down. My tin foils started nipping at him because they new he wasnt well. So I moved him into my 75 by himself. He seemed to be ok for a couple days then got worse. He no longer could keep himself upright. It got to the point both his eyes glazed over and he spent all day upside down at the top of the tank I ended up putting him down. After he was gone I moved my smaller terror but same age around 6 years into the 75 he was put in without changing the water or changing media in filters. He was fine for several months then about a week ago he started having problems swimming upright. That lasted for a day then he was fine for a couple days, well the last couple days hes having the same symptoms as the one I had to put down. One of his eyes is starting to glaze over he can't stay upright but instead of floating upside down at the top of the tank he lays on the bottom kind of curled up like a C.

I'll probaly put him down today or tommorrow. My question is orginally the tank he is in was my Oscars I was thinking about putting the Oscar back in there once the terror is gone. Now my questions is do you guys thing whats going on with my terrors is something that can be spread to other fish or just a swim bladder failure. It seems kind of weird that both terrors started acting the same way is this just a coincedence or do you think what ever was wrong with my first terror got spread to my other terror since he was put in the same water with the same filter media? I would think if this was the case it would have happened sooner then several months later. However I dont want to risk it happening to my Oscar if its some kind of bacteria infection or something. What do you guys think?

Because the incidents were several months apart, I would suspect something in the tank rather an infectious disease from the filter media being contagious.

When it all started with the first terror he was in my main tank and all fish in there are doing fine including the Oscar. I was just thinking of moving him back in the 75 once my terror is gone to provide more space in my 150. However I don't want the same thing to happen a 3rd time. I could always empty the 75 scrub it and replace filter media but if I do that I'll probally just tear the 75 down and put it up for now cleaning three tanks 75,55,and 150 suck. The smaller ones are ok but the 150 takes forever plus my 75 and 55 are in my office so only time I ever see then is when I go in to do water changes and feed.

Clean the tank(s) thoroughly and put some stress coat in with your GT, then just hope for the best...its very odd how your last GT had the same symptoms, sorry to hear man

i know what ur talking about i had a 5inch female do the same thing and just recently my 2inch little female is doing it but its weird my male is just fine i think maybe she got attacked cause shes missing some scales but just to be safe i moved into a 10gal medical tank and put some stress coat in it and im hopeing for the best.

Test the water in the tank, test your tap water too and report the readings be honest or we can't help you. What is the diet of these fish? Does the diet have enough vegitable matter in it? Diets high in meat are not the best for these fish. Remember if you do a complete cleanning of the tank and filter the tank will need to re-cycle. Also what is your maint schedule? How often do you do water changes and clean the filter? Try to answer these questions and maybe we can narrow down the possibile cause.
