ok... please help most of other threads have been ignored.... I hvae a current set up of a 100 and a 300 g just got a about 7" oscar have fallen in lov ...anyway my local lfs has just told me they are goin g to be getting green terrors in today.... I was going to house them in a tank with a 2 convict cichlids and leave them grow out till they are big enough tyo fit in big tank... by then the rtc will be in the pond!!!! have most of set up!! Im just wondering when he does growout is he going to eat everything regarless of their size etc ......

it really depends on the character of the GT. i have a 7 in boy. it took a bit to find a tank mate that he didnt pick on. as of this moment i have my 7in boy house in a 75g with a 4in common pleco and a 6in pearsei. i tried to house him with silver dollars, blood parrots, giant gourami's, and he stressed them out badly. he never pick on them so badly that scales went flying but he would run them around the tank nonstop! Now that i have the Pearsei in there with him he nice and calm. you would think they were bf. lol. just every once and a great while he cases the pearsei for about 2 sec. However i have had friends that housed ther gt with firemouth's, jd, convicts and oscars.

i keep a male gt in a communtity tank with oscars severums plecos salmon cats geos and some others he is fine , but was raised with these fish , i belive if you add a large gt to a tank that has been living its life as a loner it will live up to its name.

ok.... I got them... they are adorable... they will be fine for the big tank it has huge fish in that one... thanks for the advise guys..... fingers crossed we will be ok :)

I feed both my green terrors cichlid pellets in the afternoon and tropical flakes in the morning. and about every other week i get feeders. lol however the lil gt i have a bit to small for feeders. as for the growth rate im not to sure on.

I've raised all of mine on pellets and various frozen foods. I stay away from feeders since they are vectors for illness and have little nutritional value. Growth rate is pretty fast as juvies but as they get closer to 7-8" it starts to slow down. That's also about when mine started to show some attitude.

ya thats what I ahve been giving them so far and everyone seems happy in tank.... so ar anyway I gave them in a but of prawn only a small bit aswell because the confvict cichlids love it they alsi tried it... happy out!!
