Hello.

I have a 3" green terror in my 125. Was wondering what his growth rate should be on average? He's chowing on tetracolor granules, cichlid gold, and even massivore that the oscar breaks up.

Also, is it natural for only the back half of his scales to have a shine to them?

yeah way too slow. mine grew to 6" in a little over a half year. It grew fast for a gt but now it's not growing anymore. he just stopped growing. I ended up throwin him in the 150 gallon community tank. either way it's a very nice looking fish but when put in a dark tank w/ good lighting they look majestic.

Oh and by the way I would feed it a lot of massivore or other similar pellets, frozen shrimp twice a week, and do big water changes frequently. If he eats like a pig I would do a big water change once a week at the latest. that's how i grew out my male gt.

it seems variable but the majority of experiences seem to be slow. my GT was a very fast grower, reaching 6-6.5" (best guess cos he didnt like the tape measure) in little over 7 months from 1.5-2". genetics, food, water changes, filtration etc all play a role.

My 7INCH GT is almost 2 years old.....

mine went from 3" to about 7" in approx 8 months

mine was around 3 in in july and now is at a lil bigger then 8in hes a fat ass he's in 155g with her mate and with 2 mated jags that he beats up on and a pair of pikes
