so i purchased my terror kind of on impulse after i lost my two oscars due to a power loss. My terror is kind of boring. It claims its spot in the tank and just basically sits there till feeding time. Is that normal when they are smallish?

Second since it didnt do a whole lot and all i really saw swimming was a convict when it wasnt trying to kill my firemouth, i bought 3more cons and a jack dempsey. So there are now 7 fish and some bichirs. All cichlids are relatively small. As they grow who is prob going to have to be removed or rehomed? If anything i would like to be able to keep the terror and dempsey for looks, if the terror ever becomes more interesting. Do these two types of fish normally get along?

And lastly can anyone sex it?

First what size tank? JD and gt get along well in my experience.how many total convicts do you have? What is the stock in this tank?

Oh yea i forgot tank size. Its 125. I have 4 cons atm. 2pink 2 black. A green terror, a firemouth and the dempsey. 7 seven cichlids and 4 bichirs.

The cons are kinda just dither fish for now. I kinda figured since they were cheap why not.
And if i get a pair i was thinking of giving them a smaller tank to themselves.

Ok as far as stocking your good with the terror, firemouth, and JD. That should be fine. Your cons will eventually pair unless you have all boys or girls. If you have all boys I say rehome two and keep two and same if all girls. Once a pair forms thing may get nasty if you have boys and girls. How big is the terror? It looks to me to be a adult.

I would have to guess 6 inches give or take a little.

I agree with crazy mike thats sound advice. I also raise and breed green terrors and yeah they get more mellow and chill out patrol a little then go back to there spot when they become adults. Most SA cichlids do that even oscars when they get large will sit in a spot unles its feeding time haha. I know I wish some of the my older cichlids still acted like they where at 4 inches.

Do you have any more pictures? Identifying the fish's gender tends to be difficult to because of the clarity of the photos and water/background.

Also, as they grow you might need to regime after a while but you should more than likely be okay. Unless some of the convicts turn out to be a mating pair.
Yeah, the Green Terror and Jack Dempsey should get along for the most part, at least in a 125 gallon aquarium. They should also get more interesting as they grow. Every fish's personality tends to be different; some prefer to hide and some prefer free range of the aquarium. Most of my Green Terrors preferred free range of the aquarium, especially when they became adults. They seem to hide more when they are young, but again every fish is different. I hope this helps! :)

Did not mean to say regime, I meant relocate.
