Ive got my GT's ordered in the next week or so..Im going to feed them NLS Thera+A..was looking at feeders and got the Marbled Crayfish response in a Google search..found some for sale cheap!

Ive never kept GT's before..do they really need anything other than NLS..i would like to give them a treat every now and then..

What do you all think about giving them Marbled Cray's for a treat??

I personally don't like to feed live food that can't be swallowed whole for a few reasons (only live food I have ever fed was ghost shrimp for a new eel that was having issues eating frozen).

I've kept both Saums and Stalsbergi and fed them a variety of pelleted NLS Thera +A, Spirulina flake and then frozen krill/blood worms as a treat. Actually when feeding the said eel above I also fed grocery market raw shrimp and both Saums/Stals went crazy over that.

Thank you..frozen krill/bloodworms I have, already feeding to my other tank of Cards and Cats..what make spirulina flake are you using or used with your Saums?

Any other suggestions out there??

Thats exactly what i was planning on doing..a breeder tank full of them! But didnt know if I needed them for the GT's..Never even thought about my cats liking them but now I remember using softshell crays for channels when i was a kid fishing...thank you

I don't see it being necessary, I think if you wanted to give him a treat some market shrimp or fish would do just fine, they're not very picky. I try to avoid live when I can for a few reasons. 1) Sometimes they take to live too well and overlook pellets. 2) It can become expensive. 3) It can become a pain. 4) If you introduce new tank mates they don't look at them as food if never fed live.
I feed live feeders to a number of my fish, but if I don't have to, I won't!
