I recently started up my 75gal. Currently stocked with 8 GTs, 2 cubans, 3 arulius barb and 1 spotted raphael cat. The plan is to allow the terrors to pair off then remove the other 6. My question is two part. One, will the cubans or at least one cuban be ok with a pair of terrors? Two, I was told my GTs will destroy any plants I added to the tank once they grow. Can anyone suggest plants I could use or should I just leave things alone? Thanks and I look forward to answers and input.

A pair of terrors will most likely claim the whole tank. Cubans are aggressive but two beats one almost every time. Plus there really is not enough room for all those fish. As for plants, I guess you could try hardy plants you can attach to driftwood such as java fern and java moss.

I agree. Once the GTs pair off and start breeding their aggression will double in addition to the cuban already being outnumbered. I think a 75 will eventually be just too small.

R u really wanting a pair ??? Do u really want to breed these guys or just to end up with a nice looking pair?? R u planning to upgrade to a bigger tank? Y not just keep the nicest GT and Cuban and try to grow them out there. Either way a 75 gal will not accommodate your stock in the long run, but it can definitely work for a few months or so. And as stated already a GT pair will more than likely take over the tank and gradually eliminate the rest of your fish in that size tank.

Same.... You could do just a pair of GT for quite awhile in the 75 gallon and probably be fine. But like said, if the GT "PAIR" is breeding the cuban's toast. Either do the pair of GT, or one GT and one Cuban and try to get either both of them male or female. That's just my opinion. Good luck!

I personally would rather to keep the Cubans than the other fish, terrors are nice but cubans are harder to get, grow bigger, look awesome and are very aggy....

The current plan is to just let my terrors pair up. I've started asking around work trying to find the cubans a home If not I know the pet store will take them back. At least that way I can still go to visit them and still watch them grow. They are pretty cool but the GTs have been my goal all along.

Damn!!! Well Im sure my wife would agree with you, she also likes the GT the most but I would kill for those cubans mate!!!....

I really dont want to give them up either to be honest. They are beautiful fish and one of them is currently boss of the tank. He greets me as soon as I walk over and follows me until I leave. But its my fault for getting them without any real knowledge of what I was getting. Delt with a differnt guy than usual at my LFS and he told me they would be fine in the tank with the terrors. Despite knowing better, or at least thinking I did, I bought them anyway. So now Im trying to make it right.

my GTs never touch plants except when breeding they move the substrate around, so put stones around the base of plants
