I went fish shopping in Chinatown today (NYC). They usually have something weird in addition to tons of flowerhorns and arowanas. They love their "new types" of flowerhorns too. At least everything is in better health than petsmart/petco.
They had a bunch of GTxBP's, are these common anywhere else?
They didn't have a name for it. just "new type". I tried to get a pic but then they told me no photos.
I asked if the ones in the pic were GT x Parrots and the clerk said they were (they were kept with regular BPs). They had very short bodies, maybe 5". they had ones that were 1" as well. They looked like a "balloon" version as well.
I believe that's what they're calling "Balloon GTs",like you said,or whatever weird name they wanna make up. You see the "ballooning" done to a few different cichlids now like Convicts,Flowerhorn,GTs,etc.I think they're crossed with a Blood Parrot somewhere down the line but could be wrong...
