why does my green terror keep laying egg without a mate? yesterday my gt layed eggs , I thought she was pairing up with my bifas because they where lip locking and fighting but i think the bifas just wanted to eat her eggs (not sure if the bifas is a boy or girl ). When i woke up this morning all the eggs were gone . This is the second time this has happened why doesnt she pair up first so someone can help protect the eggs?

female cichlids will lay eggs no matter if there is an approved male around or not. if there is no male they won't be fertilized and she, or the rest of the tank inhabitants will eat the eggs or they will turn white and you'll have to suction them out to keep from poisoning your tank.
