hey guys , its big daddy magnum with another question lol, i just today bought a green terror, around 2 1/2 inches, and in the store he seemed alot more aggressive in fending for himself.. but its his first day in my tank and he seems more timid..... im just wondering if once he gets used to the tank if that defense mentalty will come back lol only cause my jewels demseys and convicts of his same size are testing him.......... thanks guys.......

give him some time to settle in, he should have no problem holding his own with your stock :)

hope tank size is not a issue, I suggest switching your tank decor around and letting your fish set up new territories. You might want to pull the jewel from that tank, africans and americans are not supposed to be mixed. They might give you issues down the road.

It's normal for it to take a couple/few days for a fish to settle in. In a short time he will start feeling at home and will defned his little piece of the block.

Jewels are W African River fish that thrive in the same general water parameters as SA fish, they're not from the rift lake regions... Their natural behavior is also much closer to SA Cichlids since they are by nature river fish... not lake fish...

He'll be fine after a few days. If he does take a whooping or 2 in the meantime good news is GT's heal up very well & really quickly.

get that jewel out and ur gt will run the tank very soon. Jewel ripped my GT fin and lip so be careful even if the gt takes over the jewel can defend with a lot of power i was unpleasantly surprised and the jewel is goin back to LFS. Good luck

Not being argumentative... but to display a variety in personal experiences...

I use Jewels as Dithers with my SA/CA Cichlids, including Green Terrors, Jack Dempseys and the like, and I find them no more nor any less aggressive than Convicts, which I also commonly use as a Dither for the same fish...

well you see guys the 2 jewels actually leave him alone, there to busy chasing eachother around. it's more the convicts and the 5 inch texas= king of the block that bother him,

good news boys, the GT seemed to make a bond with my 2 Jack Demps and he's doing fine holding his own against the 2 convicts... as for my Texas, the big boy, i redecorated the tank and put the cave he loves all the way at one side of the tank and he seems to be content on leaving the others alone....
