Green Terror's black spot disappeared

Hey guys. I was taking pics of the tank today and comparing them to older shots and realized that within two months my GT lost his black spot on either side. I got him at 4" and hes now around 8" and fat. He's always been happy and healthy and nothing has changed recently. I always thought color changes were agitation and stress related, but like I said his environment hasn't changed much aside from a minor re-scape.

My old Gold Saum had a black spot that came and went, nothing unusual. As for your GT, it is a very nice specimen. Well done!

Thank you guys! I appreciate the compliments. I didn't realize that they lose the spot as an adult dominant male. Could I use the loss of his spot to guess his age?

Today:

The spot will come and go, depending the the stress or emotion the fish is feeling presently. Simply, it just depends on the environment and the fish's mood. I hope this helps! it is not necessarily worth worrying about because the fish can have the spot even if he or she is happy.
