I was wondering has anyone kept GTs and Festae together? it is something i have been thinking about as i thing the colours in both fish would go great together. the festae i currently have is female so wont get so big

Jim

Yes I have and it is possible BUT, there MUST be enough room in the tank.

Sure you want to risk it? GT's are great looking but cheap Festae especially females are not.

I'm sure a few members have pulled it off. Greenterra actually kept a very large Green Terror with a bigger male Festae in a large aquarium. On a few of his threads he mentioned that there was the occasional flaring and chasing. The Male Festae was eventually removed because of its increasing aggression against his tankmates. A lot will depend on the tank size and the temperaments of the individual fish. A friend of mine attempted this with a female Festae and a male GT with a few other cichlids in a 75. It was doomed to fail in such a small tank, which in fact it did. The GT only attacked the Festae but left all others alone.

Yes it's possible, my friend has a big male GT in a 100g with a 6inch festae, Midas and 2 small RT growouts, they all get along great and look good together! GL

Doubtful long term unless the tank is pretty dang big. My male festae has tried to kill everything in his tank including catfish.

I tried it in a 300 and failed. Festae was chased relentlessly by the GT. I moved the GT to another tank for about 4 months to let the Festae gain some size before reintroduction. This time with the added size the chases led to brawls that were brutal. Finally, I had to make a choice so the GT had to go. Even with 300 gallons I couldn't make it work. Both female fish....

Wow!! That is scary, I have two 4" females and two 4" ( 1 male & 1 female) green terror in a 300 gallons with everything listed in my signature block, so far it is working)...
