I just joined this site not sure how to use it still but i was wondering if there is anything wrong with my green Texas cichlid I just got him 3 days ago but all my other fish are out all the fish in my tank are still fry I have a jack Dempsey (who for now is the boss of the tank), blood parrot, blue acara, fire mouth, and a pictus cat fish. My tank is 75 gallons. I'm worried because everyone else is out except for my Texas. Is it normal for him to be hideing what I'm hoping is he is just still scared from going into this new tank and all. But I don't know do you think he will come out at all (this is my first cichlid tank I've done all the research I could) I've gotten my water tested twice before i got my fish they both said it was fine

Welcome to the site.

He may need some time to settle in. How big is he?

I've kept many Texas over the years, and currently have 2 greens and my prized red. They're skittish at first sometimes but should start to get more adventurous after a bit of time in the tank. I would make a little cave dwelling for him that other fish may not be able to get into. Your Texas will turn into a mean son of a ***** in a few months. I've noticed the aggression really starts to show after the 3.5" mark.

Anytime you add a new cichlid to a tank with cichlids that have been there a while, the new fish is at a disadvantage, realizes it, and will hide until it feels comfortable and carves out a space. Almost all cichlids are territorial.
Even juvie cichlids will set up territorial boundaries, and defend them.
Their territory is an investment to protect, the new fish is an interloper without investment.
Adding cichlids piecemeal to a tank is often brought with problems, that may workout, and may not. That's one of the reasons many cichlid owners, end up with many tanks.
Some cichlids do not play well together, whether we humans want them to, or not.
And just an FYI, the name green Texas cichlid, is an oxymoron. Herichthys carpintus is erroneously called a Texas Cichlid, but does not come from Texas, but from a river system further south in Mexico.

I grew mine out from 1" for a while in a 75 gal, but they outgrew it, and killed off some other cichlids in the process before they were moved to a more appropriately sized tank.

Describes my current situation ... trying to get all the chichlids I want as quickly in as possible so they can grow together .. last 2 tomorrow .. think I'll rearrange tank a bit but hopefully it'll settle down in a day or so

Sometimes just a few days more in a tank than a new fish, can be all it takes to get the new fish offed. Best way is to add them all at the same moment.
