Good Morning
I have a 4-5" Green Texas Female (At least that's what i think she is). I got her from my brother who had it since she was very small. I have had her for the past 2 years. I recently introduced 2 Jack Dempsey. Which i think are both males. My question is should the Green Texas have laid eggs by now? By now i mean in the past 2 years i have had her. What provokes a fish to lay?
I will upload pics when i get home to see if you guys can confirm her sex.

Try adding a male green texas and see what happens. Thinking that all fish in a tank should hybridize is asinine.

I'm not expecting the JD and Texas to breed. I never even thought about it. The JD information was just to say what was in the tank in addition to the Texas. The JD can come out of the equation.

My question is do fish lay eggs without a male around. She was the only fish in the tank up until 2 months ago. Should she of laid eggs? Do some fish just dont lay eggs?

Some females of certain species are literally egg laying machines who will lay eggs every few weeks with out the presence of a male. Many females will wait to be in the presence of a male to go into breeding dress and then lay eggs. A Texas and a Jack Dempsey can create offspring so just be aware that it can happen.
