I have a 8" Green Texas who's currently living in an outdoors pond for the summer and he's doing great. However he will be coming indoors by fall and I will be coming into possession of a 65 gallon aquarium which I will be housing him in. Now I know this isn't a large tank by any means but I was wondering what tank mates could work for him?
I'm not really looking for other cichlids as I don't want to have problems with aggression in a tank this size so the Texas will be the Centerpiece of the aquarium. He's a pretty laid back fish who's only ever seemed to be aggressive towards other cichlids/ fish that are cichlid like. For example he's killed a firemouth when I was growing him up in a much smaller tank and now he occasionally chases around the sunfish in the pond but he completely leaves alone the goldfish and koi who are smaller than him and I've even temporarily housed him in a community tank with cory catfish and a paradise gourami for two months and he left them alone as well. So I'm hoping keeping him with some none cichlid fish, preferably smaller than him could work in the 65. Any thoughts?
