I have a new shop light on my 75g with 2 40watt 6500k tubes.
My water seems to turn this green tinted color. If I replace one of the 6500k with a 10,000k will this green tint come to an end?
I do a 50% water change weekly, and a 25 gallon mid-week. My water prams are in good shape.
When I had one light burnt out it never did this green thing, I bought 2 new tubes and now I can't keep up with the green.

I dont see any tint in the picture, just a bit on the glass but what you described sounds like an algae bloom.Your lighting is too intense and unless the room that the tank is in is very dark, you dont need the lights on for soo long.In case you did'nt know, algae is a form of plant and nutrients in the water and the light gets it growing.:)

Well when the water change happens, I pour the water in to the toilet, and you most definitely see that it is green.

I just wonder if I take one 6500k tube and replace it with a 10,000k will that slow the algae down.
I think I'll go down to the LFS and see about a new tube.

Yeah, check out their bulbs, they should have something for you.

I'm not sure changing the bulb would be necessary or helpful. Just control any sunlight shining on the tank, and decrease the amount of time you have your lights on.

I thought sun light might have been the trouble. I turned my blinds the opposite way so that no light could get in. I've also turned off my fan because it would wave the vert. blinds and cause gaps in the blinds and with the sun so low in the sky sun could and does hit the tank. With the blinds turned no sun can get in now and I have watched it all afternoon today to make sure.
Tomorrow I am going to do a 75% water change and cut my timer back a couple of hours. I was lighting the tank 10 hours. I'm going to set the timer now for just 7 hours.
I just wonder if I can also help by changing one of the tubes to a 10,000k
I have a ton of algae growing on the glass, the PVC pipe, and on the driftwood, and I kind of like the algae in there, just not on the front glass and not in the water color.
