Somewhere lost
What care is needed for these? I know they need crickets dusted with calcium and d3. But what I want to know is humidity heat if they need a uv light. Also will they be compatible with a crested gecko. No I am not going to shove them in a small cage together. When we build the snake cages my boa is being moved out of her 90 and the gecko will be put in that but I was curious if the frogs can go with it. This is just a question on it if you say no I will not do it, so if anyone feels the need to go into a "you shouldn't mix species" rant please do not do so. I am curious because I believe it would look more natural having my male crestie and maybe 2 females and some frogs. But if not I do have a 29gl that I will use for the frogs.

Well I had a green tree frog for 5 years until she dies a month ago. I had her in a 10 gallon with T-Rex bark bedding and fake plant. Make sure you have a large water bowl but not one that deep. She should be able to bath. I never provided a heat source for mine so as long as your room temperature is above 73 you are ok.

My room is always 77-84 so heat isn't an issue. I am going to get a arboreal lagon then when and if in the 90 I will put lots of real plants for them.

UV is not necessary. They prefer high humidity, but some ventilation is also good; balancing those two aspects is an important part of cage design. Moths, flies, roaches, and earthworms are good supplements to crickets. I haven't kept cresties and couldn't say if there would be temperament issues, but in a 90 gallon they should be OK as long as both species' requirements are met.

Well I know my crestie is always well fed. The 90 won't hold humidity yet but I can have my dad make a lid for it that will make sure it does. The 29 holds humidity very well. Also holds heat. I know what they eat was just curious on if they needed uv mainly. Anyone with more experiences with cresties want to chime in on keeping them with tree frogs?

I have cresties and frogs. My opinion is no.

The frogs need a higher more steady humidity than the cresteds... IMHO.

The food for the frog might stress out the cresteds as crested do not need to eat a lot of insects.

I would just go with a no dont do it.

What do you mean by the insect thing? and exactly how much humidity for the green tree frogs and if anyone is curious on what one I mean I am talking about Hyla cinerea.

My crestie would rather have crickets then fruits or crested gecko diet. It was his main diet at the pet store I believe. The only time I have gotten him to eat them is when I really can't get crickets and I don't like starving him and he has to be starving in order to eat anything but crickets. Also that is about the humidity I keep my crestie. Everywhere I looked said 65-80% so I stick between 70-80%. If my crestie ate less crickets I wouldn't have thought of putting them together.

Then you might want to try and change your crested geckos diet. You will end up with a very unhealthy short lived crested.

You asked for opinions from some one who keeps cresteds. I keep both green trees and cresteds. You asked for no lecture on mixing. If you were going to disagree and do it any ways why did you just not say so?
