Green Water=Infusoria?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i wanted to know that too...because i have a old aluminum boat in the back that has crayfish, snails and other misc crap lol with alot of green water..but not sure if i could use it or not

No, just green water isn't infusoria...its actually a tiny almost micro-organism, its best to get water from a pond and fertilize it with poo (not yours, fish poo), if you look closely you can see those little chupacabres swimming around..do a water change every few months

I got this info off the baby betta diet thread :)

but i have an experienced betta breeder telling me its ok to feed my fry with green water... i have a planted tank outdoors its infected with green water for many months now i believe there's infusoria in it? my guppies breed in there and i jus leave the fry alone with the parents i dont feed them special food they managed to grow up...

Yeah, I have heard that also but USUALLY, green water just contains free floating algae in it. You can try it, I never did with my betta fry, and see how it works out. I used infusoria, the egg yolk method, and the brine shrimp method before.

The brine shrimp method will only give you the outcome of the biggest, strongest fry surviving, which some breeders says is better anyways. Keep us posted! GL!

I tried the infusoria method but I always get green water and when I shine light on the container in a dark place I still can't see little things floating around.... I just pour half a cup into my fry tank everyday so far they're still fine... Ive read the egg yolk method will only bring you 10/100s fry because beta fry only eat live food....
