So the other day I bought some green earth worms from my bait shop and the owner said that they are healthier for fish. I looked them up and all they are are regular red earth worms that are fed certain nutrients that give them a green glow. When I fed them to my fish, I saw a green dye color burst out of my fish's mouth and it looked almost like green food coloring. Now my whole tank is a green color. Is this ok? I actually think it looks cool. uploadfromtaptalk1361326565424.jpg I fed about 5 worms to this tank (150 gallons) uploadfromtaptalk1361326614864.jpg only one worm fed to this tank

I thought they were fed dyes and foods to make them green and scented as bait. First time I heard anyone say it's for the health of the fish they're catching. From your description these sound like dyed worms (can be done with vegetable die or malachite green or such).

I guess it's possible there are green earthworms or worms fed green veggies, but neither of these things should cause what you described.

Well he knew I was feeding them to aquarium fish. I was really surprised by how much dye was in them though!

I'd be careful either way even if the guy who sold them to you said they were "healthier". He may just been wanting to set up a steady buyer in you. The green earth worms are meant for wild fish and the green color was meant for it to stand out more in the water. Just as every fishing lure comes in a different color. Whos to say your fish wont have a green tint to them eventually............

I would do partial WC's every other day til it clears up. It's better to be safe than sorry.

Yeah it faded after a couple days. I usually do 2 wc weekly so that worked. Thanks
