i have never tried it but they make these containers that hold barley, like a chlorine dispenser in a pool. and spposedly it will clear water. havent had the problem yet. GL

UV will make it CRYSTAL clear . I have used/use a lower rated for gallons than should have UV which works great took few days but once clear stays clear and you run it now and than.

You could also use bog type fast growing plants planted in plastic pots with holes drilled in side of pot . Plant them in gravel they "suck up" junk" however they take awhile to get going and you need a few.

Floating plants work best but they stink as you can't see the fish in the pond .

Do you have a filter? I had a bad pump that wasn't doing much. I was about to buy a UV, but all I did was get a new pump which ran through a DIY filter and the water became crystal clear.

Ok jdragovits, if the filter is the rocks in the return, you don't have enough biological filtration.

1) UV sterilizer would be the quickest solution. (make removable for winter storage so freezes won't damage it).

2) Barley straw takes 3-6 months to work and is marginal.

3) Plants. Bog plants (local cattails, papyrus, etc) in the 'filter' rocks & set on blocks to hold them up in the pond.

Since your season is waning, I would clean the pond well and get it ready for winter and implement these in the early spring in the above order.

How long has the pond been up?

You didn't state what fish (bio-load) you have in there?

Does it freeze over in the winter?
