I have a 90 gallon aquarium and I can't get the water clear....I changed 75% of the water and cleaned/ changed the filter . . . . and even after that the water was cloudy and then very very soon after the water changed back to a nasty green. What could I possibly do to get that crystal clean and clear water??!!

be sure to use the search function that MFK has provided for you.

green water is just an algal bloom. remove tank from direct sunlight (in front of a window, on a porch, etc) and leave aquarium lights off for a few days.
do another water change in a few days.
stop providing nutrients to the algae. you may be overfeeding.

algae = direct sunlight + excess nutrients

Sounds like you have an excess nutrient problem... I'd fix that first and foremost. AKA small daily water changes. You might have some luck throwing in a good bunch of watersprite to outcompete the algae. It's one of the best for nutrient export, you dont have to plant it in the substrate, and it can handle low lighting situations. You could also spend a pretty penny and get a UV sterilization unit.

Why in the world would you put a pacu in a 90 gallon tank? It will grow to over a foot within the year, and it's still gonna be just a baby. Your rainbow fish need entirely different water parameters from those of the angelfish. I'd also reccomend you do some hardcore research on the physiology of parrot hybrids maybe it will lead you to a well thought out ethical conclusion.
I dont mean to sound harsh... but I strongly believe one should be educated on the needs of animals we intend to keep in captivity.

dap, all good points, but it doesn't say that he only has one tank. before knocking him on the forum, ask him if they're all in the same tank or send him a pm. common courtesy.

great suggestions otherwise. another excellent plant for nutrient export would be java moss

I'm having this same problem....how in the world to ppl. keep their tanks from getting so green?? Are a lot of water changes necessary to FIX this problem? I'll change 50% of the water and in a couple days the water will start to turn green again. I turn the lights off in the tank and keep the temp. at 70...and the fish always eat everything they are fed.
