My water is so nasty! I have a 60 gallon filter in my 29 gallon. Good idea? I cannot get my water to get clear, even with the filter and max. And help? :(

Alage* There is hardly any algae on the glass.

its free floating algae. you need less light and more water changes.

Yeah, algae can float in the water.

Fish don't seem to mind it though, it's more about us wanting clear water.

Either up the water changes, or reduce the light, or invest in a UV sterilizer to kill the algae whenever it gets too bad.

Depending on the situation and the type of fish a severe algae bloom can be very harmful to fish as when the lights are off it can deplete oxygen very quickly. Plants produce net oxygen when lights are on, but when they are off a lot of oxygen is consumed. This is why even though turning off lights for a few days can help slow down or reverse an algae bloom it is often accomponied by fish death.

It would sound like you have pleanty of filtration I would guess the algae bloom is caused by overfeeding of fish (provides too much nutrients for algae to grow and thrive).

Thanks for the feedback! How could I reduce the light? Another light bulb type?

Reduce the light by having it on fewer hours a day (you might want to leave it off for a week or so to get a jump on the problem). Feed less and do more frequent water changes.
Leave the light off for a week? I also did a water change last week, like 90% Just to get the algae off the side for sat there for about a week because of moving.
