I have a 29 gallon tank with just a dozen or so swordtails and 2 fast growing plecos and 5 snails. Everything was great until a week ago when one of my relatives gave me a piece of drift wood she had used in a tank until last summer. Well I cleaned it up and put it in the tank, half a day later my tank started turning green. I havent tried to fix it yet, but do you think multiple water and filtration changes would do it? I really dont want to tear down this tank.

Well driftwood leeches tannis in the water somtimes creating a tea / green water effect. I would take out the diftwood , and soak it in a bucket seperatly. Do water changes on your tank and the bucket , and when the bucket water is not discolored the wood will be ready for your tank

I like the tanic acid in my tank makes my fishes happy and my pleco loves to suck on his wood

(no dirty joke intended)
