Hope all is well.

Just wanted to introduce myself over to the forum. Seems like a great place to chat with fish hobbyist like myself. Been keeping tanks for about 10 years and my wife says it's a lot better than gambling and drinking.

I have a 110 gallon. fresh water. 6 red parrots, 1 fader flowerhorn and 1 balloon green terror.

Running a fluval FX5, some driftwood and an eheim powerhead.

food wise, i feed them Alife, Grand Sumo and my own DIY fish food comprised of broccoli, peas and vitamins (all blended and frozen). water changes every 2 weeks

here's the video. enjoy and hope to get to know everyone

Thank you. Aquarium salt and here's the biggest secret ever. I squeeze half a lemon through a strainer into the tank when i do water changes. Never had ick, fin rot or any bacteria. External or internal on the fish

Lemon juice? Please explain, and welcome to the family. Alot of experienced folk here glad to help a fellow fishkeeper out

Thanks guys, looking forward to reading everyone's post and working together. My father kept tanks all his life. currently he has a cichlid tank and a goldfish tank. both 110 gallons. He has a 600 gallon pond in our backyard where he keeps his japanese koi's. He probably has about 30 years of experience keeping fish. Growing up he would always keep lemon wedges in cheesecloths inside the tank. one lemon cut in 1/4's is sufficient. Lemons are antibacterial and very effective in killing bacteria. Keep in mind though that they will lower PH if you have enough in there. One wont do anything though. When i change the water, i use the python water changer but the last 5 gallons of fill up, i'll actually use a 5 gallon bucket, squeeze 1/2 or even one lemon into the bucket (through a strainer to catch seeds and pulp) and fill it with fresh water and then into my tank.
like i said, never had parasites, bacteria or fungus. Never bought expensive medicine or treated my fish with chemicals.

When life gives you lemons.....use it for your tanks!

happy fish keeping and hope this helps
