Heyo... :)

I don't have much going on in my tank now, its more like a deep trough really, it used to be an unproductive flower-bed. It's about 1m deep and 1x3m long. But i'm pretty happy with the setup and the natural filtration system. Used to have a big lobster in there but it finally died of old age, the guppies it terrorised are now only having to contend with regular glass shrimp for their daily flakes.

Am using a normal pump, with a short hose attached to the out-going flow that is tucked under one of those statue fish with the gaping mouth so the stone fish spews the water back into the tank. The real filter is where the water lands, used to be a trough-type filter but hated cleaning out the cotton thing. -bleagh-

Planted two types of water-plants in there and they're held down with large black pebbles. The water has to go past the roots first so gets caught and the plant gets good food. I hardly ever need to change the water, only to top it up as the evaporation rate here is quite high. The dog used to drink from the fountain-fish so that might have affected water-levels too... Hmm.

Will try to post pics of the setup as i think about what creature i can next stock it with...

Howdy & Welcome to MFK!

Sounds like your set-up has great potential
Some detailled info with pics would be great in the Set-up Forum :grinyes:

welcome!

Thanks for the welcome y'all.

Will post pics as soon as they let me out of my day job, ha ha...

I'm also hunting for anyone who may have Praying Mantids, preferably eggs, to stock another enclosure of mine, know any?

Ok, i'll be shooting some pics up, don't want to be called troll, bs or be banned...
I'm for real and although i don't have a lot of experience with fish and such, i do my very best to make sure they live long and happy lives.

Enjoy!
Kin

My blue lobster, when it was alive. It ate the red one and only had guppies for tank-mates.

It died of old age i think, about 6 months ago, was about 4 or 5 years old. I kept the moults, the smaller one i mounted in a shadow box as a craft project and there was only one moult in between the two pictured which i had lost to a cat. The bigger moult was kept out in the open as i couldn't find a shadow box big enough to mount it in.

This poor bugger was an impulse buy. Saw him at a supermarket, all tied up and bound for a soup pot. He was the last one on the table and was slowly blowing bubbles to himself. Bought him for $5 and put him in a large tub to recoup.

All he ever did was blow more bubbles and refuse to eat anything i popped in there. Frozen shrimp, seaweed, fish food... Thought he didn't like the tub so put him into the large outdoor pond / trough to keep the lobster company.

He got psycho and immediately ripped his right arm off with his left and ran under the rock. I thought he really wasn't going to survive and no way i wanted the psycho dude harming my lobster, so i dug him out, right pincer too and stuck him in the freezer.

He now resides under some plants in the backyard...

Will take pictures of my setup over the weekend as by the time i get home from work the sun has set and it doesn't look good at night.

Here are some more pics of the denizens of my little zoo i like to call home.

Anyone want a rooster? He makes nothing but noise is bloody aggressive and mates with sandals. The only thing good is that he eats cockroaches whole...

Triops, cute little buggers i kept during my stay in Australia. Pic was taken when they were only 4 weeks old, but died soon after. Didn't consider them to be feeders as i'd paid AUD$20 for them...
