I'm Joe from Sunny South Africa, I have kept Oscars for almost 20 years now and opened a LFS about 9 months ago. I sort of inherited a baby black spotted pike/ Peruvian gar in November (apparently there is some animosity about the genus) which is on the blacklist here in SA.
The fish is a unique experience to me and apparently short lived in captivity, currently he seems to be doing well and is around 29cm in length already. It enjoys feeder fish exclusively so in the dreadful event that something does go wrong I could get advise on this forum as we know practically zero about these fish in South Africa.
