Just checking in, to let all know that I am still alive and looking for the biggest and baddest monsterfish in the Bering Sea. So far I have I have seen a lot of fish including: Bigmouth Sculpin, Great Sculpin, Sleeper (Mud) Sharks, Bering Wolf Fish, Huge ShortRakers (I even took their otoliths) to name a few. I don't have access to post pictures as internet in Dutch Harbor is really slow (took 5 minutes to access Google). If you leave a response, Please remember I may not see it for two to three weeks as that is our normal time at sea. Currently, I am hoping to be in Seattle around the middle to end of September where I will have a faster internet connection. I am hoping to post some pictures then. I have some really good pictures of Killer Whales, Sunrises and Sets on the Bering Sea, and Different fish.

Well, Got to Go!!! Shipping out again (Trip #5).

Phil

Haha just because he fishes up there doesn't mean he's on one of the 10 or so Crab boats made for TV.. My brother is a long-line halibut fisherman and he says that show is full of crap and is made for media.. They display the show like it's still 'derby' style when its actually based on a quota system. Most fisherman treat the job these days like a 9-5 job. They get up, eat breakfeast, take their time.. but the shows try to make it act like it's a 'race' to who gets the crab first, but it doesn't matter. Bigger boats get bigger quotas and they are all going to catch their quota anyways. No real time limits, if you don't get crab, you just reset and stay out longer.

Have fun :D Watch out for the Orcas.. they will eat your lines up!
