Hey everyone
Just thought I would introduce myself and tell my fish's story.
I've been looking for an excuse to get an aquarium for a while, although I wanted a saltwater tank. A couple of weeks ago I was fishing with my nephew. He was manning the dip net for bait and tossed everything he caught in a bait bucket. When we were done we packed up and headed home. The next day I noticed that most of the minnows (mostly shad) were dead in the bait bucket, but there was a large one swimming around with some vigor. I reached in to grab him to see if it was a large black tail shinner or what. Lo and behold it was a little LMB.
Well, not really wanting to pitch him into the grass I decided to toss out the dead ones and tossed him and the water into a glass jar(bout a gallon). I headed out to get some RO water for the jar I was housing him in while I searched for a tank.
Well after some thinking I remembered I had a old 10 gallon glass tank form my childhood. I broke it out got a cheap HOB whisper and some gravel and Amquel+. I filled it up added some salt and have rocked and rolled since. He is being a bass eating a lot and likes to beg for food. I obtained some driftwood, altough it seems to careless. He has seemed to do fine through the cycle(almost done) and I know I he is extremely cramped, but I think its better than taking a dirt nap. My wife and I are closing on a house soon and then I wil have room for a 200 gallon show tank, so his dream home isnt too far away.
I also managed to grab some native minnows all gravid females and have them housed in a rubbermaid tank with a cheap foutain pump running a ghetto water bottle filter. Not to mention my lil' guppy tank with 3 ghost shrimp, who seem to molt every week, maybe I'm missing a nutrient they lack, I dunno.
Anywhose thats my story,
hope to be around more and contribute some
