I found this site while searching for aquarium setups for my daughter, who just turned 7 today, btw. I want to introduce her to a passion of mine that has definitely been a part of my life since I was 10. That started with my first 10 gallon tank and a 2" Tiger Oscar.
In any case, I've had several tanks and setups over the years, and always had a love for large cichlids, but unfortunately our current living space doesn't really warrant itself to a large tank. Someday soon...just gotta get through this recession!
Although I must say I've never had a tank over 100g, I've always had several 55-90 tanks with single or mated pairs of various SA cichlids, as well as other larger species. I've also had my share of well planted community tanks and had great fun maintain those as well.
I've always dreamed of a tank in the 250+ range and hopefully that will come true soon enough. I've been wanting to get back into this hobby for the last 5 years now. (yes I know....how can you go this long without a tank!!) Believe me if I had the means, I would. I already know how slippery a slope this could be and setting aside the $$ to do this will be a challenge, but the wife is on board so at least that will make things easier.
I've been going through some of the threads here and I must say that I'm really really impressed by the setups and variety of species that people have. What is also very interesting is seeing the different types of equipment that is available and being used in different countries.
I've learned tons in just the few hours perusing the site. I thought I knew a little bit about fish keeping but it goes to show that you can always learn more.
I look forward to contributing to these forums and I also look forward to the awesome posts that everyone has contributed as well. So much great info!
Thanks to all the people behind MFK!!
