Howdy, all, and a great big how-do-you-do from Preston Hollow, Pine Ridge, and Coal Creek, in the heart of Persimmon country!
I've been an aquaculture hobbyist for 30 years now. At the tender young age of 8 years, I received a 1 gallon fishbowl and 2 goldfish as a birthday gift from my Maternal Grandmother, may the All-Father rest her beautiful soul, and I've been hooked ever since. I've had guppies and platy moonfish, angelfish, tetras, firebelly newts, and many other wonderful creatures over the years. Really, though, the fish are an afterthought for me these days. For me, it's all about the plants. I love my plants, whether they are growing in my aquarium or in the back 40...
My favorite aquariums are the all-natural self-sustaining ecosphere-style tanks. No feeding, no mechanical or chemical filtration, just good-old-fashioned applied biology. Of course, this means bigger tanks with fewer fish, but it also means happier fish and a lot less work, at least in the long run...
