Hi guys,

I have been doing some research online in regards to grooming a XB to the best of it's potential.

However it is so hard to find the right information.

So far this is what I found.

Young XB needs white background and don't overfeed with about 8-10hrs of light a day.

When a bit mature can change to blue background.

Please confirm and share your knowledge.

grooming is just a fancy word cooked up by breeders lol...just feed your fish a varied diet...keep regular water change schedule and have paitence...takes a few years b4 normal xb will develop..i strongly believe genetics are the key to success more so than environment is..

Thanks for your input.

But I heard that if you don't place in white tank and also over feed, the XB wont reach 6 level shine???

In my humble opinion, as long as the water parameters are ok, there is no overfeeding. Feed it what it can eat. In the wild they are free to eat what they can. Smaller Arowanas can be fed 2-3 times a day. Once your arowana hits the 12 inches. Better to feed him once. As the previous poster pointed out, give him good quality food, excellent water quality and love, and he should be a beautiful companion for a very long time.

My aro stuff itself so much when feeding his belly is enormous. So now I just feed it a smaller amount with just a small bulge in belly. haha
